Server not joined to the Domain

hello everyone!

i have a question..I have a new celerra added at one of our locations. Which has a manually created pool holding 10 TB of storage and also a share created.

when I was trying to map the //server/share ,this morning, it failed.I checked it on control station:

Here's the out put:

server_cifs usmanpn01_vdm

usmansmnspn01_vdm :

256 Cifs threads started

Security mode = NT

Max protocol = NT1

I18N mode = UNICODE

CIFS service of VDM usmansmnspn01_vdm (state=loaded)

Home Directory Shares DISABLED

Usermapper auto broadcast enabled

Usermapper[0] = [127.0.0.1] state:active (auto discovered)

Enabled interfaces: (All interfaces are enabled)

Disabled interfaces: (No interface disabled)

DOMAIN SNCORP FQDN=VENDOR.com SITE=USMANASAS RC=5

SID=S-1-5-15-70cf555c-1cf63ada-ec7d04e7-ffffffff

DC=USMAnDCPW02(172.18.16.34) ref=2 time=1 ms (Closest Site)

DC=USMANSMDCPW01(172.18.16.33) ref=2 time=1 ms (Closest Site)

CIFS Server USMANSMNSPN01[SNCORP] RC=3

Full computer name=usmansmpn01.vendor.com realm=vendor.COM (domain not joined !)

Comment='EMC-SNAS:T5.6.48.7'

if=usmansmnspn01_if l=172.18.16.81 b=172.18.16.255 mac=0:60:16:3e:b3:4c

  FQDN=usmansmnspn01.sncorp.vendor.com (Retrying DNS update...)

i checked the same in GUI by right clicking on the share properties.It was showing vendor.com not connected. Vendor.com is the customer address.

Is it that  the nas server  not joined to the domain?..or i am seeing some thing wrong.

The reason i am putting this across  is because, this was configured sometime back when i was not around more over the EMC CE had confirmed this.So just want an opinion .If it is not , then i need to do this ..Will appreciate your inputs.

Thanks for reading

Hi,

You need to join the CIFS server to the domain.

You can either use the Celerra Manager GUI, or the command line.

Go to CIFS>CIFS servers, Right click on the CIFS server, then click on properties, check the box "Check to join domain", then fill the fields Domain Admin User Name and Domain Admin Password with you credentials with admin priviledges on the domain.

In case you prefer to use the command line, use the following syntax :

$ server_cifs usmanpn01_vdm -J compname=usmansmpn01,domain=vendor.com,admin=

Gustavo Barreto.
