CIFS server-->VDM

Folks,

I need to move a CIFS server currently on a physical DM to a VDM configured on the same DM. I have read the document "emc170111" which says to use the command:- server_cifs –move     compname|netbios= "

However this command does not work for me. It says "command not found". I also checked the celerra command reference and there is no such option called "-move". Please understand, i need to able to do this myself so please do not suggest to have EMC do it for me.

Please help.

Thanks a ton.

does it find server_cifs command at all ?

If not then maybe you are not running in the nasadmin environment

post the exact command and output

Rainer

P.S.: there is a reason the -move option is not documented - if you dont understand the limitations listed in the KB entry you can easily end up with a non-working CIFS server

Please log into CLI as 'nasadmin' and not 'root'.  Also, you can try putting in the whole path, which would be '/nas/bin/server_cifs'
