can someone share NS-120 documents

I tried to download and i think i don't have the entitlement.

Basically i want to know to map the domain user to NAS user for CIFS access. Or how to create another user which i can use for CIFS access.

Thank you.

Hi Rainer,

It's envision with NAS,so i assume it's domain-member CIFS, how to verify?

I created one user in the domain but failed to map the share using the account, unknown username and password.

From the envision server which i login as domain admin, i checked, the share is shared to everyone.

Hi,

you’re question is not really clear.

Do you mean user mapping as for multi-protocol access with both CIFS and NFS ?

Which CIFS server config are you using? Domain-member or standalone CIFS server ?

See the properties of the CIFS server on the Celerra GUI or via server_cifs

I have a question, if the cifs server already joined to domain, when i created an user in the AD, the user will be able to access the share? Assume the share is shared to everyone.

Managing a CIFS permissions is just like managing permission on a traditional Windows server. You have share permissions and you have folder/file permissions. Best practices is to delegate permissions to AD groups and not individual users. So if you have a share and granted an AD group share and folder permission, you could simply add the new user to this group in AD without even touching the CIFS server. Basic file services management, nothing magical as far as CIFS server is concerned.

you will use Windows MMC to connect to the CIFS server and create local accounts. First step after creating a CIFS server that is not joined to AD is to change local administrator password. You do this (on Win7 machine) by clicking Start > Windows Security > Change a Password. Type CIFS server name\Administrator and then old and new password
