MX7000: Standby Management Module (MM2) Stuck in Initialization and Firmware Mismatch Issues
We have an MX7000 where the MM2 (standby) stopped working. We purchased a new MM to replace it, but the new module remains in the "Initializing" status and does not move past this message in the GUI and the front panel.
There are also two errors related to MM2 concerning firmware mismatch and lost redundancy, as shown in the image below:

Additionally, there are two more errors in the logs that may be relevant in this case:

I attempted to update MM2's firmware from MM1 via the GUI, but it failed:

Using PuTTY over SSH, I tried performing a failover, but encountered the following errors in both PuTTY and the GUI:

Using a serial cable via PuTTY, I can access the system, but the prompt to enter the username and password does not appear:

The status in the GUI shows standby with a warning.

Thank you in advance.
Norian.

Hello, I'm afraid at this point the MM2 is faulty. I would recommend getting a new one.
You can also raise an official ticket for a second opinion https://www.dell.com/support/incidents-online/en-us/contactus/dynamic

Hello could you please send us your service tag here? https://www.dell.com/community/en/direct-messaging
I would recommend testing each MM by itself including the old one.
Replacement MM can be aligned with 2.20.00 baseline when you get a successful connection to it, only then you can add it as a secondary MM.
Some MM versions do not have direct path to 2.20.00.

@DELL-Young E Thank you for your response, we tested each MM individually, including the old one:
The old MM2’s LEDs are completely off.
When powering on the new MM2, the LEDs appear normal, but the system gets stuck on the "starting" status.
MM1 is functioning correctly.
We swapped MM1 and MM2 between slots, but the symptoms remained unchanged—MM1 worked in both slots, while MM2 failed in both.
With only the new MM2 installed, we couldn't reach it over the network (no response to ping/ICMP).
Since we were unable to access the modules, we couldn't retrieve their firmware versions.

Or I can ask you to try one more thing on this.

I managed to bring both MMs online and performed a failover test, which is working as expected. However, I'm encountering a firmware mismatch error. According to the message, the issue doesn't seem to be between the MMs, but rather with the enclosure. Do you know how I can update the enclosure's firmware and check its current version?
When I saw the mismatch message, I attempted to upgrade the standby MM from the active one. During this process, I noticed a message indicating that the enclosure firmware is not at the correct level.

When you brought the replacement module online and got the error, did you wait 15 minutes after getting the error to try updating, as seen on page 23 here? You can also find recover steps below that.
Let me know if this helps.
