Tape out certain group(s) from a replicated group
So I am still getting used to Avamar (began installing in sept. 2013). I have everything migrated over to Avamar,
and have replications running to ship our Prod Avamar node to the DR Avamar node. I have a Media Access Node at our DR site and I am wanting to tape out only certain groups from the replicated domains. It doesn’t look like from the console this can be done, and I contacted support and support said that the groups are not replicated. I am looking to see if anyone has this same issue and if there was some work around they came up with. Such as maybe the groups are replicated but we are just able to use the console to tape them out and maybe created a script to perform this function?

Brent,
Clients for tapeout must be added to a policy individually or at the domain level.
The Media Access Node has no understanding of Avamar group names nor the clients assigned to them.

Adam, thanks for the info. I figured there wasn't much else that could be done but wanted to put this out there. Sometimes people can come up with some pretty good work arounds
I could create multiple policies and base the policy on the specific folder I need. I will have to try that out, looks like that might be my only option. Basically I am using the backup system to provide extended backups for some legal holds that we have. I don't want to export out the whole file server, I go through enough tapes as it is. This is was a quick and dirty extended retention option until we get archiving going for the file server and emails....but not soon enough yet
thanks again for your input.

Brent,
If you have a requirement to migrate only portions of a given clients dataset such as in the example of a Windows server backed up with x4 drive letters C, D, E & F and only F needs to go to tape you might want to checkout
ADM(e) Avamar Data Migration Enabler utility available at https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-7910 It supports include/exclude against a given client backup so in this example only Drv-F would be migrated.
ADM(e) provides some key operational & practical advantageous when migrating Avamar backups to a different storage medium such as tape or cloud for archival purposes.
· file granular recoveries directly from tape or cloud
· a fully cataloged/indexed tape backup
· file level recoveries directly from tape or cloud storage
· a ZERO dependency on the need for Avamar or an Avamar GSAN to perform a recovery from tape or cloud storage
These are just a few of them, I’ve attached a pdf comparing the functionality of the three solutions available for this purpose to help clarify which one is best for you.

Adam, thanks a lot for that info. I will for sure check this out, it sounds like ADM is exactly what I need. Looks like you may have just a little but of knowledge about this tool
So I may bounce some questions off of you if I don't see any one else in the threads in the link you provided that helps me. thanks again!!!
