Bare Metal Restore to a new VM

I have set up some of our servers to backup using the Windows system state so that I can perform a bare metal restore at our DR site. To start the restore I created a shell VM and set it to boot to the WinPE iso file that was on the utility node. The BMR process starts and I enter the appropriate information (name, IP, etc...). When I get to the screen that loads the available disks I don't see any disks at all.

What am I doing wrong or what am I missing that I don't have any available disks? Can you not do a bare metal restore to a VM? I'm running ESX 5.0 Update 3 and Avamar v7.0.1-61.

Thanks.

did you try to change the disk controller type in your VM ?

That was it. We changed from the default controller because of an issue we had with VMWare. Once I changed back I could see my disks. Now I just need to make a note to change the type back to what we use before rebooting.

Thanks.
