Backup failed - the backupsystem=true iption is invalid on window 2008
Yestrday i configured new backup with following dataset
C:\
VSS
There are around 15-20 server working fine with this dataset but newly created added server is failing with below error message.
2013-10-22 22:23:48 avtar Error <10945>: The backupsystem=true option is invalid on Windows 2008, Windows 7 and later. Use the Windows VSS Plug-in with "Create Disaster Recovery Backup" enabled to perform System State backup (Log #4)
2013-10-22 22:23:48 avtar Error <8939>: Errors occurred preparing for backup (exitcode=536870914). No backup will be created. (Log #4)

You need to add VSS plugin to your windows 2008 dataset. W2K8 servers do not use system state (ntbackup) option.
Simply add the following to your dataset:
VSS plugin will take care of the system state backup and you can see it as a parallel stream in your activity monitor, similarly in your Backup and Restore window.

Will this option work for window 2003 servers are well? In a group i have few 2003 server and 2008 servers.
or else i have to create separate group for 2003 and 2008.

You can use the same dataset, servers will be automatically be distinguished on their type by avamar. But it would be better if you create separate ones and try out.

Same dataset worked for W2k3 and W2k8.
