x15 R2, P111F, won't start/doesn't lightup/ DOA
Ok here we go. My sister-in-law dropped the laptop off and said it would not start up. I checked the connections, ac adapter lights up (nothing else)
I then removed the battery and tried it.
Nothing seems loose or broken.
1 Would this model work with the battery removed and plugged in? (before I decide to order a new on)
2 I am wondering if it could be the power button, though I don't "really" want to take more of it apart to check.
It was dead on arrival, I think she may have let her grandson use it. Seems like it might be a nice computer.
Is there something else I could check other than checking the power switch?
Thanks Bruce

Not certain on Alienware x15 R2, but many Dell laptops could be power on and operate without a battery.
Power button is unlikely an issue. It could be faulty power adapter, bad battery, damaged DC-in jack, or bad charging circuit on motherboard.
Yes, Alienware x15 R2 is a nice computer with 12th gen CPU and discrete graphics of RTX 3000 series.
For no power, no POST, or no video issue, you may want to perform an RTC reset to see if it may help. With power adapter connected, press and hold power button for 30 - 35 seconds until power LED blinks 3 times. Release the power button, the RTC reset is complete.
