m18 R1, System Repair wiped out all my data

Hi all,

I downloaded and tried to install Windows 24H2 on my Alienware M18 R1 and when I went to install it, it didn't work.  At the same time, I was downloading the most current 23H2 software but had not installed it.

After Windows 24H2 failed, I did a system repair 2x's and on the 2nd time, my computer data was wiped out.

I'm picking up my computer today.

Anyone have a similar issue?

UPDATE:

It was not having the most recent BIOS that caused my Windows 11 23H2 Alienware to lose all its data.

When I tried to do a system repair, my external Samsung 2 TB drive would just stop due to the PC being whacked.

Thanks DELL for not telling me that the BIOS needed to be updated first..it cost me $195.

Picking up implies you had Dell or a repair shop do the work -- if so, you'll need to ask them.  Most repair shops will simply do a full reload of the OS (Dell does this when they're repairing a system).

@ejn63

Thanks......Yeah, I don't know what the heck happened but 23H2 was working fine and all my data was intact.

Totally normal after sending out your laptop for repair they wipe the harddrive.
