AW3423DWF, HDR not supported issue

Hello,

I purchased my Alienware AW3423DWF monitor two days ago and it was working perfectly. However, following a Windows 11 update last night, I noticed this morning that Windows no longer recognises HDR on the monitor.

When I checked the “Use HDR” setting in Windows, it indicated that HDR is “Not Supported”. I've even tried to turn on "Smart HDR" on the monitor settings and it would revert back to "Off" after a few seconds.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I’ve attempted so far, none of which resolved the issue:

  • Used DDU to perform a clean reinstallation of the NVIDIA drivers (currently updated to version 572.83)

  • Reinstalled the monitor firmware

  • Installed the monitor driver

  • Performed a factory reset using the monitor’s built-in option

  • I also have the Dell Display Manager 2 installed as well.
  • 8bpc is already selected in Nvidia Control Panel and can't be changed

PC Specs:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor 4.20 GHz

- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080

- Motherboard: MAG B650M Mortar WIFI

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I found the solution!

The Dell Display Manager was interfering with my monitor. I just uninstalled the software, and I was able to have HDR stay turned on :).

Clarify. Are you referring to the DDPM (Dell Display and Peripheral Manager) 2.0.1.16 as to the software that you removed to correct the issue?
