AW3423DWF, DDM 2.0, Key binds for unavailable functions

Hello,

I have been using the DDM 2.0 application alongside my AW3423DWF to manage HDR profiles with certain executables. I found out that the application causes certain key binds of mine I rely upon in-game to become unresponsive, including but not limited to ALT+P and ALT+T. Per the program manual, ALT+P is reserved for the KVM switch function. However, because my monitor does not support KVM, the associated KVM page in DDM 2.0 (which is shown in the manual) does not appear for me and I cannot delete the key bind. I'm sure you can understand how frustrating it is to have a key bind that does nothing and cannot be disabled for use in other programs.

Additionally, ALT+T toggles vision engine modes on my monitor despite Vision Engine also not showing up in my DDM 2.0 application. I think the functionality should either not exist or should be made visible in the application.

I would really appreciate it if someone could pass this along to the developers of DDM 2.0. Thank you.

Thanks to user Hotel Bravo who found this workaround.

I've found a solution! Well, sort of -- it's a workaround, but it solves the issue.

  1. Open DDM 2.0 and go to one of the fields where you can customize a shortcut (e.g., under Input Source --> Hotkeys)

  2. Press one of the shortcuts that are being hijacked by DDM 2.0 (I have identified ALT+P, ALT+S, ALT+A as shortcuts that are predefined in DDM 2.0 and that I actively use elsewhere). It's going to give you a warning stating "This hotkey combination is used by another Dell Display Manager Function. Do you want to replace?" Click yes. Then, repeat this for any other shortcuts you'd like to deactivate.

  3. Finally, press backspace to delete the shortcut for that action with (or any other shortcut if you'd like to use one for that function)

Ran into the same issue, with version 2.3.0.22. I tried the work around, it did give a warning the Ctrl-Y was bound to something else, but after setting it to something else and releasing it, it kept doing the crosshair thing, I was even able to have do the other shortcut AND the crosshair.

Would it be possible to actually add the option to change that shortcut for real or disable that  feature completely?

(using AW3423DWF, firmware M3B106)

I need the productivity feature of DDM (like switching port and dual display) leave the kid stuff optionnal please.

This fix no longer works. Why is this not on the hotkeys menu?????

The Ctrl-Y keybind is used by Alienware Command Center, not Dell Display Manager. Ctrl-Y cannot be unbound without uninstalling Alienware Command Center (which you can uninstall if you don't use it), only rebound. Here's how:

  • open Alienware Command Center
  • Go to the FX tab
  • Edit the Active Default Theme
  • Rebind the "Switch Shortcut" to something you (hopefully) never press

And yes, this is ridiculous and I cannot fathom how this passed QA.
