AW3243DWF, goes black 6 times in 2 hours

I received my AW3423DWF today and my screen has gone black about 6 times in 2 hours.  My firmware is the most recent version offered and this was occurring both before and after I installed Alienware CC.  Does anyone know of a fix to this?

If you're accessing this discussion because you own the AW3423DW (not the AW3423DWF), here’s some important information:

The AW3423DW is designed to protect its OLED panel and meet energy efficiency standards. After entering standby mode, it may automatically perform a Pixel Refresh and then power off completely.

This behavior is normal and helps ensure panel longevity while complying with ultra-low power requirements.

Why It Happens

  • Pixel Refresh: Runs after 4 hours of cumulative use to protect the OLED panel.
  • Energy Compliance: The monitor powers off to achieve ultra-low standby power consumption.
  • G-Sync Module Behavior: When powered down, the module disables USB and wake signals, so the monitor won’t wake automatically.

How to Optimize Your Experience

1. Disable Eco Mode (Optional)

  • OSD: Menu → Others → Eco Mode → Off
This keeps the monitor in a lighter sleep state, making wake-up faster.

2. Keep Firmware and Drivers Updated

  • Download the latest firmware from the Dell Support page.
  • Update your GPU drivers from NVIDIA or AMD.

3. Power Settings

  • In Windows:
    • Go to Settings → System → Power & Sleep.
    • Disable USB selective suspend.

4. Manual Wake

  • After Pixel Refresh or deep sleep, simply press the monitor’s power button to turn it back on.

If you own an AW3423DW or still need assistance, please follow the steps below based on your warranty status.

  • Under warranty? Click the Get Help Now button at the bottom-right of this page to chat with Dell Support.

  • Out of warranty? You can request a service quote from Dell or consult a trusted technician for a hands-on diagnosis.

Check your private message.

Update = The plug into the monitor jarred slightly loose and fixing that seems to have solved the problem.
