AW3225QF, always using Dolby Vision HDR mode
When using AW3225QF with any recent nvidia drivers (any card) the monitor uses Dolby vision at all times regardless of the selected mode and no way to disable. Results in extremely washed out desktop black levels and mode switching.
happens with both HDMI and DP and different refresh rates. Confirmed for ALL users of this monitor (Reddit forums).
Please update to disable this behaviour or allow toggling of DV mode.

Issue solved with firmware version M0B103! You can now toggle Dolby Vision off in the monitor!
Get the firmware update here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/aw3225qf-monitor/drivers
Thank you so much Dell!

I can confirm this behavior on my 7900xtx using display port. No matter what I do the monitor will force Dolby vision. I would like to use the other HDR modes as Dolby Vision looks washed out in certain applications

I can confirm this issue too. Even using dell display manager, it’ll switch to the mode I want, or at least say it is then the screen will jump back to black and just reinitiate Dolby vision. It’s really annoying.
dell, just give us a toggle for Dolby vision as a whole. If we want to use it for the limited amount of Dolby vision content on the pc then we will but give us that choice because idk why you wasted your time on the other modes. Works fine on console as the ps5 has zero support for Dolby vision so it has no choice but to use the intended modes. But pc? It’s just plain broken. Constantly engaging, raising black levels, and blowing out highlights and otherwise ruining a really great monitor. Please, just give us an off switch for Dolby vision

@MyNameIsAhj That is odd, because I would expect the monitor on a PS5 to also switch to Dolby Vision. By default Windows 11 does not support Dolby Vision either...

@Vanadiel - correct, but for Windows 11, Dolby Vision is always ON, and this is showing as "expected" or correct behaviour for Windows to enable it. We are asking for Dell to provide an option or even confirmed update on allowing us to Disable Dolby Vision, so that we can control the HDR mode in the monitor (for color, brightness options etc.).
SO far, Nvidia has said "expected" and recently Dell support has said "expected" and so no changes. This really impacts the options with the monitor, and just seems crazy for such an expensive "premiere" level monitor to not allow this behaviour to be managed/disabled.

I agree with the above. Is Dell planning a firmware update for this? Disabling Dolby Vision would be ideal. It seems like the issue is affecting things in SDR or when using auto HDR in windows. Would love to just toggle off Dolby Vision.

Same issue, please ship a firmware update Dell!
At the moment I rolled back my nvidia drivers to 537.58 -- because anything newer than that causes the Dolby Vision "bug"
There is an nvidia forum post on this issue: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/g-sync-monitors/7/535542/aw3225qf-dolby-vision/

A firmware update that allows the user to disable Dolby Vision on the monitor as a temporary workaround would also be amazing incase this issue is a windows/nvidia issue
That way we can just turn Dolby Vision off when we don't want it

@marat569 driver 546.17 works as well. That's what i'm currently using and it's working without dolby vison popping up, i'm sure there will be a fix eventually but i'm staying on this driver until then

All must start a case with Dell Support. They need to first verify the warranty and ownership status. Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. Provide to them the private AW3225QF Service Tag.
Dell is aware of this default Windows operating system behavior. Periodically check the AW3225QF Documentation page for a new article.

Unfortunately the new firmware today did not fix the DV issues. Looks like I'll have to initiate a return and probably just wait on the ASUS model to release.

Our return windows are closing. Can Dell simply tell us if they are going to give us a way to disable Dolby Vision? It defaults to DV as soon as windows boots. I can turn the monitor off and on and get to HDR Peak 1000 but as soon as I start 90+ percent of my games it defaults back to Dolby Vision and maxes out around 500 nits. It's unacceptable and seems like such an easy fix. I hope Dell is following Reddit because the amount of returns is probably going to be staggering. I'll probably be one of them. I waited for the new firmware and it did nothing to fix this issue.

Hey, y'all. If you turn off HDR in windows you can change your Smart HDR settings to true black, HDR 100, or whatever setting you want. Then toggle HDR back on in Windows. Dolby Vision is now no longer on.

@DELL-Chris M
Somebody said in another thread:
"Asus has announced their PG32UCDM will have Dolby Vision with a toggle on/off. Hoping Dell publicly announces the same by end of week."
I second the quote, I hope dell also gives us a firmware update to toggle dolby vision on or off!
