Aurora R7 PSU Replacement, GPU_POWER

I have replaced the oem PSU with a Thermaltake 650w psu. I have been reading alot of posts about the "GPU_POWER" connector and to use a CPU conector and NOT a PCIe connector. The Thermaltake psu only comes with one CPU wire with Two 4x4 connectors on it (one splits into a 2x2). My question is do I use the ONE wire to connect both the CPU (2x2) and the GPU_POWER (4×4) on the motherboard? Or should I salvage the adaptor that came off the old psu that has a wire from the coming off the 24pin connector for the GPU_POWER?

It is not advisable to use cables that did not come with your PSU, as pinouts may vary. Ideally, you should have done the research in advance and purchased a PSU with the appropriate cables. Perhaps you could return the Thermaltake PSU and exchange for one that has 2 EPS 8-pin (4+4) cables.

@ProfessorW00d ill see if I can return it, and get another with 2 eps 8pin cables. Any recommendations around the same price point?

@Nitrogly  here is a link to pcpartpicker with power supplies that are 650 watt to 850 watt, 140mm to 150mm long, fully modular, with 2 EPS 8-pin cables . . . LINK

It was said by an Alienware user who seems to know that the proprietary GPU_PWR socket on R6, R7, R8, R9 board must be plugged in, otherwise board would not POST. https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/alienware-desktops/aurora-r8-gpu-upgrade-power-question/647fa3b3f4ccf8a8de9a4842
I recall you may not absolutely need an 8 pin EPS connector for that socket, and that Dell’s psu connector for that socket may have only 4 pin actually wired (or sometimes 6 pin) even though it is a 8 pin connector. OP likely has a 460w oem psu since only that psu has a short cable branch off the 24 pin to connect to that socket.

Ah, the famous 4, 6, 8 pin pending on your configuration.
