Aurora R7, Patriot DDR4 compatibility
Hi guys,
Once more I'm back, looking at upgrading from 8GB to 16GB DDR4.
Turns out its cheaper to buy a new set at 16GB 2x8GB Patriot compared to buying an extremely overpriced stick of Samsung 8GB to match the 8GB already in my Aurora R7.
Now I'm hearing there could be compatibility issues with RAM! Seriously, is this true? I assumed swapping out my 8GB for 2x matching sticks of Patriot 8GB would not be an issue, so here is the link
Can anybody tell me before I spend money I don't have is this pair would work on Aurora R7 motherboard? If not, is there a list somewhere I can refer to for tried and tested ram that will work?
Thanks guys your all stars.

Dell Aurora-R7 tested/validated DDR4. Dell part number
since your Dell oem 8GB is made by Samsung, it may be this one:
DP/N Y7N41 8GB, 2667MHz, DDR4, 1Gx64, 8K, 288 pin, 1Rx8, Single Rank, Unbuffered, 1.2v, Non-ECC
Hynix HMA81GU6CJR8N-VK
Kingston KY7N41-MIE
Micron MTA8ATF1G64AZ-2G6E1
Micron MTA8ATF1G64AZ-2G6H1
Samsung M378A1K43CB2-CTD
it does not have to be overpriced unless you buy directly from Dell. You can use the Dell P/N Y7N41 or Samsung model number M378A1K43CB2 as search keyword which often finds good deal. here is one on eBay US.
here is one on eBay UK.
you can also upgrade to single 16GB Dell oem ram
TP9W1 16GB, 2667MHz, DDR4, 1Gx72, 8K, 288 pin, 2Rx8, Dual Rank, Unbuffered, 1.2v, Non-ECC
Hynix HMA82GU6CJR8N-VK
Kingston KTP9W1-MIE
Micron MTA16ATF2G64AZ-2G6E1
Micron MTA16ATF2G64AZ-2G6H1
Samsung M378A2K43CB1-CTD
here is a very good eBay UK deal on M378A2K43CB1

Dell systems are very picky about RAM and the most compatible is from Crucial as listed here. That is not to say another brand would not work as this forum post implies that it may be fine. If you want to use the RAM you linked to, just make sure it is from a retailer that will accept returns and issue a refund.

Quite amusing that the upgrade page only lists Crucial for everything, yet it came with Samsung Ram and a Samsung SSD lol. Anyway ive ordered the Patriot ram purely because i dont agree with being gardened on parts i can use from overpriced Crucial gear, if it doesnt work i can always return, but theres honestly no reason why it shouldnt, ive had a Dell XPS in the past, and i used allsorts of parts on that with no issue whatsoever so im sure itll be fine. Im guessing Dell have some sort of deal with Crucial ha ha.

Thanks for the update! I am interest in hearing more about your 80 watt CPU fan. The Noctua NF-12 IndustrialPPC 3000 RPM fan chimes in at maximum 3.6 watts.

Evening All
So the other day i queried about what Ram would work with the Aurora R7, And Also SSDs.
First job, i removed the Cpu fan Bracket from the back of the mobo and replaced the Cpu housing, leaving the 4 holes exposed i attached a new Cpu fan rated at 80watt, and i used Akasa thermal grease, purely because that was the only half decent one they had in stock at that time.
I ended up Buying 2x8gb Sticks of Kingston Fury and fitted to slot 2 and 4, My main boot drive is a 1TB Samsung Evo ssd, but i also bought a PNY 1TB ssd and Cloned my MacOs hdd to it and installed Clover Bootloader as the primary bootloader, setting it in the bios to Boot to clover.
I reset the Bios, loaded the bios and set it up how i wanted and set the boot options and enabled XMP in the bios and powered off, Booting up again, tested Macos on SSD, booted and loaded no issues With a fully working GTX 1060 lol, rebooted back to clover and loaded Win 10, everything set up fine, running perfect, extremely low Temps, coolest at idle was 29, and 40 on a full load, i tested using 3dMark, average temp is about 33 when Idle and around 46 on a full load whilst benchmarking.
All in all its running sweet, i planned to install a 120 AIO water cooler, but as it is right now im going to wait, maybe in the future because an AIO wont achieve better results, its silent, can hardly tell its on, so im extremely happy.
Result, anyone wanting upgrades to RAM, i can confirm, Kingston Fury works perfect, i will be adding a further 2 sticks of 8GB in the near future.
Attached a few pics for people.

Hi all, so now I have XMP enabled in bios. Is there a way to start customizing the settings for overclocking ram? Is there an app?
I've seen pics of AWCC showing this option to alter stuff, but I cant find any such screen in my AWCC. Also, would or should this not have been something that could've been done in the Bios, rather than just Enable XMP?

I am not an expert . . . but I believe your options are listed in the CPU-Z Timings Table you posted upthread. You may have XMP enabled, but your RAM does not really support XMP. Note that in that Timings Table the XMP profile is exactly the same as the SPD profile listed as JEDEC #7. All of your voltages are 1.20 V, and all of your frequencies are 1333MHz. Below is the Timings Table for the RAM in my Area-51 . . . note that the XMP profile is different than the JEDEC profiles.
