Sounds like a possible HDD gone bad.

Try running a ePSA and see if any error codes come up: ePSA test

1. No. Only the SSD (the future C-Drive) should be connected.

2. No

3. No

4. I suggest you slow-down and read my posts more carefully.

If you don't have a valid Windows-10 license (either actual key or by Digital Entitlement) you will need to purchase one or just go ahead and run Linux (Ubuntu is good).

Historically, on these older Alienware Aurora's ...
- Windows-7 : Key is on sticker on back of computer
- Windows-8 : Key is on sticker on back of computer
- Windows-8.1: Key is embedded in BIOS/motherboard
- Windows-10: Key is embedded in BIOS/motherboard

The Aurora-R3 was always a bit temperamental at times, but generally as good as Aurora R1, R2, and R4.

Like @Vanadiel , suggests ... if it passes ePSA (outside of Windows) I would just:

- Swap your current C-Drive for a known-good blank 2.5-inch SATA-SSD (480gb or larger)
- Disconnect the other drives for now.
- Clean install Windows-10 (64 bit) from microsoft.com
- Click "Skip Key Entry for now".
- See how that goes.

Would not hurt to blow-it-out while you are in there if it hasn't been done in a while.

Hi,

I have been having problems with my 2011 Aurora R3 desktop. After a few days trying different stuff, when I start Aurora R3 up, all I get now is message saying =

The boot configuration data for your pc is missing or contains errors .File/boot/bcd .And error code 0xc000000f.
1 Insert your windows installation disc restart your computer
2 Choose language settings and click next
3 Click repair your computer

That's the message I get each time I restart pc. I don't have the Windows instillation disc. If you can advise me as to where I will go from here.

Thank you

1. We use flash-drives now.

2. Start by re-reading my first post

The C-Drive disk should be blank/erased and you clean-install Windows fresh. Select to install to the unallocated free space on the disk.

I think those still came with Windows-7 (64 bit) so the Windows-Key would be on a sticker on back of case. If it came with Windows-8, there is a small chance the key is embedded in motherboard. However, you don't have to deal with any of that to get it to initially install.
