Aurora R15, BIOS downgrade blocked
Alienware Aurora R15
Hello everyone. Is anyone know how i can do BIOS downgrade? I was trying before do that through the CTRL+ESC menu and it rollback my BIOS to older version (1.04) with out any problem. 3-4 times during my test to unlock 7000mhz RAM speed. It was successfully and after that I'm updated BIOS 3-4 times as well from windows just execute file of BIOS. But now my RAM speed go to default 5600 during other test with bios and when i try to rollback again nothing happen. Same version 1.17 again and again. I already try to flash it via USB but its shows that message that i try to updated to older version bla bla and no any option to press OK coz its grey button. also i disable:
Firmware TPM
UEFI Firmware Capsule Upadates
Secure Boot. As anyone have idea how to fix it? I know bios downgrade not recommended but i need it ill take all risk.

To resolve issue with Intel 13th and 14th gen processors, Dell has released BIOS firmware version 1.16.0 with downgrade restriction. Once you already update your system firmware, there is no downgrade allowed.
See the important information on the BIOS firmware page:
Once the BIOS is upgraded, you cannot downgrade the BIOS to earlier versions. BIOS downgrades are restricted when there are security updates and important fixes with earlier versions that impact the functionality of the system.

@Chino de Oro bro before I tested it I was on 1.16 , rollback to the 1.14 through ctrl+esc , downgrade to 1.04 , boost my ram , update it to 1.17 , rollback again to 1.04 trying to overclock cp , again update to 1.17 , again all the same , and after last try I stuck on 1.17 . So ?

@SaiIorMoon 1.17 downgrade is not allowed. There's no way around it.

@SaiIorMoon I did read it: I was trying before do that through the CTRL+ESC menu and it rollback my BIOS to older version (1.04) with out any problem
Which version did you roll back from, and did you use the same 1.17 BIOS updater as before, or did you redownload the BIOS 1.17 updater?

It's not impossible to downgrade, just state the restriction imposed by certain firmware release requirements.
Mostly, one could perform BIOS recovery with a bridge firmware (some are floating around). But you should not downgrade unless to restore your system performance. Otherwise, you may cause damage to your 13th, 14th Intel processors by removing the patched BIOS firmware.

You better hope that one of the future firmware won't mess with your RAM settings again. Also, you never have to use Dell warranty support as they will require to put your system back to OEM state for diagnostics, both hardware and software.
Still glad that you figured it out and put the patched firmware back.

@SaiIorMoon Can you please share how you performed the downgrade? I saw that your address details were removed in a later post, but please try again.

This is seriously upsetting. You spend a ton of cash for a "gaming pc" and Dell continously restricts it from being to operate like one... This is the last Dell computer I ever purchase!

@prototypeculture In this specific case, downgrading the BIOS can permanently damage your CPU due to the issues with that generation of CPU.
So in this case, it's a good thing not to allow downgrades.
