Aurora R12, high CPU temperatures

As the title says, I've been experiencing very high CPU temperatures on my Alienware Aurora R12. At first it was reaching 100 degrees C constantly just on the desktop. I discovered the BIOS was reading the temperature as 0 degrees so it wasn't able to read the temperature. I reinstalled AWCC (Alienware Command Center) and cleaned inside the PC and it started reading the temps again. But now it's around mid seventies to mid eighties when under light load (browsing with some apps open) and around mid eighties when gaming. That still seems way too high, especially since it's almost as hot when gaming as when not gaming.

It's also worth noting that a while ago I was having trouble with the service AWCC services spamming errors that caused my PC to freeze up. I uninstalled the AWCC back then (probably not a great idea) and after reinstalling it I can't find AWCC services. Not sure if that matters much considering the AWCC is reading temps fine and controlling the fans appropriately but thought it worth mentioning.

Returning to this with a solution in case someone else finds it helpful

Go to power plan in windows -> change advanced settings -> processor power management -> Maximum processor usage -> change from 100% to 99%. There's some weird bug where if the max is 100 it will force your cpu to always use 100% power, causing it to overheat like crazy. Also change fan settings inside alienware command center. Airflow in the case is still not great but at least it's relatively quiet and won't explode.

Try these first.

Follow your CPU usage in the Task Manager. There could be a process that uses too much CPU resources.

Install this utility: https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

It will monitor the CPU and GPU temperatures, among other things.

Make sure your fans run correctly and there is no dust build-up preventing the airflow.

Add additional fans. Make sure they are compatible with the BIOS. At least Noctua fans  cause issues.
