Aurora R11, AWCC broken again

I swear this breaks every few months, and then instead of getting to play games I have to spend hours trying to fix it. Every time. AWCC opens to a white screen and then closes itself out after a while. The AWCC service is running. I did a repair and it said it was successful. Why can this product not be reliable and just work? What do I do to fix it? I'm so tired of dealing with this.

A couple of things. Have you done the uninstall using Revo Uninstaller? Did you do the fresh install using the full AWCC installer? And, maybe most important of all, after the reinstall of AWCC, have you done a full system shutdown, including pulling the power cords to all equipment? When my AWCC broke, it did the same thing...white screen with eventual crash to desktop. I did the Revo uninstall, and a fresh install using the full AWCC installer. After a reboot, I was still getting the white screen crash to desktop. It was only after remembering how I fixed it the last time it failed that I got it working again. That was the step where, after a reinstallation, I fully powered down the system, and pulled all the power cords, waited a few minutes, plugged everything back in and restarted. That did the trick and AWCC started and ran normally. It seems as though, at least for me, AWCC would not pick up my peripherals correctly after just a reboot. The power down may have forced a reinitialization of the peripherals. I can't prove it, but I do know that that fixed it for me.

I am also having issues with AWCC (namely MSICPU_CC service) and i'm thinking of just uninstalling it, although I really want a way to manage the thermals and lights. Sorry i have no good suggestions for you, but hopefully you can try installing the version that is for win 10 and not the version made for win 7/8/10. Make sure your BIOS firmware is updated and your AWCC is latest compatible version with your device.

It randomly started working again but I'll give that shot if I run into issues again. Thanks for your reply.

I liked my R7 and i like my AW R13 but as far as software and drivers goes, don't rely on Dell. I am no software writer but to get the Dell AWCC to run reliably across the model ranges they want it to run on must be an almost impossible task.

I learned years ago to set what i need to then ditch the AWCC, never ever install the Support Assistant, and stay away from the Dell AW update page. You try to run a high end AW PC using Dells software, i guarantee you will be doing a re-install of Windows within a few months, and it wont be via Dell's OS recovery software, which just reinstalls the problem your trying to get rid of.

Advice to uninstall it via 3rd party software is all well and good, and yes it does work because i tried it when AWCC broke once again on the rare occasion i had it installed to change the lights. But the problem i have found is the AWCC does not just break itself, it brings Windows crashing down around it.

I'm sorry, I'm going to differ with you here. I have an Aurora R13, close to a year old. The only Dell-installed software issues I've had are with AWCC. It can be a pain to fix it, but I've successfully repaired it at least three times. And every time without either a reformat or a reinstallation of W11. So far anyway, when AWCC has failed, it has not affected anything else on my system. I'd be happy to ditch AWCC because it isn't great, and it's a resource hog. But unfortunately, as of right now it's still the only way to control the RGB lighting on my CPU and accessories. Lighting may not be a big deal for some, but I enjoy it and it is sold as a feature on these systems. I'd love to see some alternatives to AWCC for lighting control but it is what it is. As always, YMMV.

No need for an apology, because what you are saying is correct. If you want to change the lights, you have no option, other than to use the AWCC.

As someone else on another thread mentioned though, these issues with the AWCC are not new, and i agree with him, its been going on years.

Bottom line is we bought very expensive top of the range PC's. I don't think its to much to ask of Dell to provide software to reliably be able to set the lights etc. AWCC on a high end  gaming PC is not fit for purpose even when it does work.
