Area-51 R2, motherboard query
Having just gotten an Area-51 R2 system. I wonder if the chassis can have a new motherboard fitted to it ala Aurora R10 or newer footprint motherboard?

Aurora R10 board uses Dell proprietary power switch embedded in led controller. You would have an easier time using non-Dell modern ATX or microATX motherboard from MSI, Gigabyte which use standard 9 pin front panel Pwr sw c/w A51 R2 FP cable.

Anything is possible.
However, unless you are a modding-expert, your 2 best options are:
1. Use it as is, with or without some more normal upgrades (like NVMe-SSD, ram, video-card).
2. While buying your retail after-market motherboard, go ahead and pick-up a retail after-market case, and a nice retail power-supply. Reuse what-ever parts you need from the old Area51-R2 (drives, etc.)
There are good threads and examples of both avenues on this forum.
