Alienware 610M Mouse Wheel is Not working within 4 months

Hi,
I purchased Dell Alienware 610M mouse from Amazon on 31st December 2023. Since the last week the mouse is showing some scrolling issue and for yesterday it sometimes scrolling the documents or web pages in the wrong direction. I have to scroll the wheel over again to scroll my documents.

I purchased this mouse considering it's sturdy build quality. Earlier once I betrayed by purchasing Dell XPS laptop. This time I thought that Dell can provide the best quality material in terms of mouse. But again I became fool. Thank you so much for selling this rubbish products in exchange of so much cost.

However I am attaching the Amazon purchase Bill for this product. You claimed that you have some sorts of warranty. If so then try to prove it by taking some necessary action to resolve the issue.

For Mouse/Keyboard bought with a Dell computer:

  1. Click Get Help Now on the bottom right corner of this page.
  2. Provide your email when requested.
  3. Next, provide the Service Tag of the computer with which you bought the keyboard and/or mouse.
  4. Briefly explain the issue with your mouse or keyboard.
  5. Wait for an agent to be assiged to you.

For an accessory bought separately or from a non-Dell retailer:

  1. Click Get Help Now on the bottom right corner of this page.
  2. Enter your email when requested.
  3. Next, provide the Order Number (found on the invoice for the keyboard or mouse).
  4. Attach a copy of the invoice (image or PDF) to validate the purchase information.
  5. Briefly explain the issue with your mouse or keyboard.
  6. Wait for an agent to be assigned to you.

Note: Initially, you will be triaged by our Virtual Assistant (VA) or BOT. Shortly after, an agent will be assigned to your case to provide further assistance.

Same problem here. Wheel stopped working properly (Erratic, scrolls in wrong direction) about 8 months after purchase. Can't get a hold of a support person to actually troubleshoot and solve this issue.

I have the exact same issue started less than a year after purchase. I cannot contact an agent as it asks for a Service Tag and will not proceed without one. The mouse does not have a service tag.

For what it's worth, I was able to get a replacement, they used the service tag from the connected AW laptop.  I did spend about 4 hours on the phone getting bounced around though.  However the new one started doing the same thing within a few months of light use.  It's just a crappy mouse, I won't waste my time to try and get them to replace this one.

In case Google leads you here and you're looking for remedy...per the User Guide for this mouse, the warranty is 2 years, unless purchased with a system, then the warranty is the same as the system's.  In case they try to 1 year you....

I also got 3 replacements of the same mouse within a year. But I faced same issue with all of them. I also asked them that if I can go for higher model with paying extra cost but they told that can not be possible according to their policies. My last replaced mouse was already died 2 months back. I am tiered of doing the same thing again and again to replace this. But one thing I decided during this process that I will never ever purchase any dell products in future. Oh BTW the warranty was expired just 1 day back, so no worries DELL, I will never ever bother you further.

A big thanks to DELL for such a great lesson..

@Arunava Kumar Chakraborty

I certainly understand being frustrated with the mouse, I replaced mine too.  I would offer up though that I used to do tech support in the military and civilian sectors and I've worked on hundreds, if not thousands, of Dell products and this is really the only one that I just felt was not a decent product.  I've personally owned dozens of their computers over the years, including the 10yo Precision T5610 I'm typing on now.  I've worked on everything from Packard Bell to SGI; Dell are the ones I've bought for myself and my family.  Alhough I did pick up a couple SGI boxes over the years.... :D

Good Luck with whatever you decide!
