DELL XPS 14Z L412Z - compatible hard drives

my hard drive of my dell XPS 14Z L412Z is dead. it is the second time, it seems that it occurs when I plugin 2 external  hard drive of 1 T0 (sync backup). Anyway, I have to change the internal hard drive and I am wondering if there are recommanded hard drives to use ? I dopn't see any information in the Dell website.

The last one I used was a seatgate ST1000LM048 (1 to https://www.seagate.com/fr/fr/internal-hard-drives/hdd/barracuda/#specs-2-5). 

Can I change it to a SSD? It is not clear if we can or not (some posts says that it is not compatible). On your side, which one do you use ? Sata or SSD ? Which exact model ? (I am not really familiar with hardware :-)).
