XPS7590 Compatible Monitor
XPS 7590
i7-9750H 9th Gen Intel Core
1 TB M2 PCle NVMe SSD
32 GB DDR4-2666MHz
NVIDIA (R) GeForce (R)
GTX1650 4GB GDDR5
I would like to start using a 27" external monitor with this laptop. What current Dell monitor model # would provide the highest resolution and refresh rate that would be compatible with my XPS 7590?

Two things come to mind: first, your expectations and second, the capability of the system.
If your plans include gaming, you likely won't be pleased with a high resolution external monitor -- this GPU is relatively weak by current standards and the system is thin and light. It's very easy to overwhelm the GPU and cooling system with a high refresh, high resolution external monitor.
At minimum, before connecting the monitor it'd be a good idea to thoroughly clean inside the system and replace the thermal pads if that has never been done.
We don't know your budget, but you can choose in light of the information here.

Thanks for the input. The purpose is not gaming. Just trying to get a larger screen to help reduce eye strain and I read that higher resolution/refresh rate monitor would help. I don't want to spend extra money for a high resolution/refresh rate monitor if my laptop will not support the higher resolution/refresh rates.
