XPS 17 9730, missing keystroke, #2
Hello, I have a very big problem with my Dell XPS 7930 RTX4080. Dell sometimes skips a key press. Nothing helps. I replaced the keyboard, screen, motherboard, disk, RAM and still the same. Updating the bios and windows did not help. The problem is probably with the BIOS, but Dell Support still doesn't fix it! Half a year has passed already! I can't work normally on this laptop! You have a big problem with your best laptop! I'm not the only one with this problem. My videos with this problem:

Hi Simon,
Have you tried going back to the old BIOS?
Perhaps that could fix it OR at least go back and then install the newest BIOS.

Hi
The laptop was purchased in March this year. There was a problem from the beginning. Even with old bios.
Interestingly, the external Logitech keyboard works properly.

It's unbelievable how this still hasn't been fixed. 5k€ for a laptop who can't type properly is outrageous. Probably an easy fix too if they only cared about their customers.

Does not happen to my 9730, I did clean windows 11 install on a cleaned SSD without any Dell bloatware.
But I do have other problems ...

I have the same issue. I tried 3 XPS 9730 and ALL of them had this issue. Still trying to find a solution... Can't believe this is a thing on a € 5K computer...

I have this same laptop and same problem. A dell engineer came out today to replace the keyboard and still problem. Tomorrow motherboard. Doubt will fix. Did you get any solution? It must be something with this hardware causing the issue.

I tested a couple of US version XPS 9730 and not able to reproduce it. I noticed in the OP's video that you have EU version, there might be a connection to your problem. Moreover, this problem has been reported in various laptops from other brands. If you have patience and want to keep the laptop try these steps:
1) it would make sense first to install clean US version Windows 11 without any drivers or software and try to reproduce the problem again, this would eliminate faulty Dell drivers, software and any region-related stuff
2) if the problem still happens, most likely it would be related to the EU version of XPS. Unlikely a hardware problem in the keyboard because all characters are affected and happens intermittently. Could be firmware.

I have this problem and also the EU version of the laptop. Ive had my keyboard replaced and the motherboard. Solves nothing. Its impossible to use the keyboard for any real work - it misses about 1/30 keys, this doesnt sound much but you are constantly correcting things. Entering passwords are difficult.
Dell has an issue for sure, this is the most expensive laptop they sell

It is worth adding, i have 2 XPS17-9730, one bought in 2022 and one 2 months ago in September 2023. The 2023 one is the one impacted and the difference is next CPU up and the graphics card. I have the NVIDIA 4080 in the one with the issue. The older one is perfect - so the fact you tried two you might not have the latest one that i do.

@DELL-Nat M
Many customers would be glad to see other bugs fixed in new BIOS like UEFI/BIOS password prompt with SED drive. Happy to help with beta testing of that.
