XPS 17 9730 Laptop - sleep mode blank/black screen

I loved my old Dell XPS that I bought six years ago. However, this new Dell XPS that I bought in early 2024 poor quality. <Soliciting other users to act is a violation as defined by Dell. Read the Forum Code of Conduct. DELL-Admin>

 

It has had numerous problems, I even sent it back to Dell for warranty work, and they reinstalled the operating system. It still does not work right; there are problems with both the audio not working, and the laptop screen (monitor) going blank (black).

 

This is especially true when it goes into sleep mode. It does not know how to reactivate the screen coming out of sleep and your laptop monitor stays blank (black). (Fortunately, I can still use the machine by using my remote monitor.) I spend numerous hours remotely with Dell tech support, and nothing was ever resolved.

 

My local, non-Dell tech showed me a Micky Mouse workaround that works most of the time. It is a shame Dell has not issued an update to cure this problem or recall the machines for repair.

 

There is obviously something wrong with the graphics driver and, even with Dell approved driver updates, it does not communicate well with the operating system. <Soliciting other users to act is a violation as defined by Dell. Read the Forum Code of Conduct. DELL-Admin>
