XPS 16 9640, keyboard "Insert" key has bug

When the "Fn Lock" option is turned off in the BIOS, the "Insert" key is not available.

Explain what you are trying to do.

By factory default, the Fn Lock option is enabled On. Why would you disable Off it?

1. Since the "Fn Lock" option is provided in the BIOS, why can't I choose to turn it off? What DELL should be doing is to allow users to use the functionality of a regular keyboard normally regardless of which option they choose.
2. If the "insert" button is not allowed to be used after the "Fn Lock" function is turned off, why does the "insert" indicator light light up again? What is this not a bug?
3. F1-F12 is a set of function keys, and the Home, End, Insert, and Delete keys are the most basic editing function keys, but why is the function of the "Home, End" keys completely normal, while the only "Insert" is completely unusable? If I don't let it go, why does the "Insert" light come on again?

To help us raise an issue to Support, share a video of the insert indicator LED after switching Fn Lock Mode to Off in BIOS.

At the beginning of the video, the "Fn" is not pressed, so the "Insert" light is not on, and after pressing the "Fn" key, you can see that the "Insert" light is on, but the "INS" status in the text editor does not change when the "Insert" key is pressed. If the "Insert" key is normal, it should be toggling between the "INS" and "OVR" states.

I have the exact same problem. The issue has just been escalated to Level 2 support, but they came back with a "works as designed, you shouldn't use FN in combination with INSERT".

Problem is: you don't have a choice. If F1-F12 is active by default (the way I like it), then the only way to activate INSERT is to press the FN key.

The only workaround I have is to press FN+Esc, then INSERT (usually in a key combination with ALT or CTRL), then press FN+Esc again to get the F1-F12 row back.
