XPS 15 reboot from external drive

Computer will not start. I have a an external drive where I had cloned my drive. How to boot from the external drive?

A clone of the internal drive won't be bootable externally, but you should be able to prepare boot media from whatever you used to clone the drive, and reverse the process -- clone the external back to the internal drive, which should then boot.

What software did you use to prepare the clone of the internal drive?

You may want to try making another image of the existing drive, and then restoring the original image to the boot drive.  If you originally installed Macrium and made the image under Windows, you can prepare recovery media (under Tasks or similar) or use another system to do the same.  Boot the system from the recovery flash drive and you can load the external clone to the internal drive from there.
