XPS 15 9560, D3100, LG monitor not recognized

I have a Dell D3100 docking station and the all of the other peripherals work fine. But I am trying to connect a new LG smart monitor via an HDMI cable and my Dell laptop XPS 15 9560 doesn't detect it? The monitor work fine when connected to other computers and I can connect to it wirelessly although it drops that connection occasionally. I'm not sure what the issue is. Any suggestions?
