XPS 15 9550 won't charge
Hi, I have been having ongoing charging issues with my Dell XPS 15 9550. When plugged in to the charger the battery icon in the system tray shows the percentage remaining followed by "(plugged in)" but it won't charge. So far in an attempt to resolve this issue, hardware wise, I have had the battery replaced, the charger replaced and the charger port replaced. I have tried plugging it in to different power outlets, with and without power boards, still no luck. The technician has also updated the bios etc but it still won't reliably charge the battery so he is thinking that maybe the motherboard has an issue. I see that others have had similar issues, has anyone managed to fix this or do I have to bite the bullet and get a new laptop?

Were all the replacement parts OEM, and does the system (F2 at powerup to check) recognize the AC adapter?

@ejn63 all replacement parts are to the best of my knowledge genuine Dell, the AC adapter is identical to the one the laptop originally came with. I did the F2 at powerup thing and under battery it showed the AC adapter =130w, is this what you mean?
I did get an error message about a month ago (prior to the most recent trip to the technician) and it had an exclamation mark in a triangle then "Charger - The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge." That was the one and only time I have had that message and the problems I have been having has been going on for more than a year.

I would agree with the technician's diagnosis. The mainboard is the issue. Whether that's worth replacing on a system that's 10 years old is a decision you'll need to make.

Thank you for your prompt replies, shame they weren't better news. Looks like hubby was right when he suggested I should "just get a new one" instead of the money recently spent on - new screen, new battery, new charger, new charging port, new network card and software upgrades to repair non functioning SD card reader.
