XPS 15 9530, Intel Arc A370 GPUs, Resizable BAR
XPS 15 9530
Hi folks.
I recently purchased a new XPS 15 with an ARC A370M GPU as I heard the ARCS are quite decent cards and have lots of power efficiencies being Intel.
However, I am experiencing very poor performance when doing video editing in Da Vinci resolve using anything more than 2 or 3 video tracks.
Everything I have read from Intel states that they recommend you enable "Resizable BAR" memory addressing to the most from these cards. However despite updating firmware and graphics drivers there is no sign of the settings required in the Dell BIOS. Has anyone experienced this issue?

3. is definitive -- it's not available on your model system, and never will be.

Dell has so far implemented this technology only on Alienware and XPS desktops -- not on notebooks.

@ejn63
I had a feeling that was the case.
Its really terrible that they sell XPS laptops with Inter Arc GPUs if there are not fully compatible

Is Dell even monitoring this forum? This feels like a serious issue that isn't receiving any formal response.

So I am beginning to think Dell is purposely sabotaging Intel's video cards, failing to even implement what is basic functionality in this day and age.
Do we know if Dell is getting any type of discount from other video card vendors to purposely make Intel's video cards not function well?

Very sad and disappointing.
I have contacted both Intel support and Dell support.
From Intel side - their answer is that the hardware in our XPS 15 is definitely capable to have Rebar enabled and referred me to manufacturer (Dell) to unlock it via software (BIOS).
...
Dell support - very inconsistent answers from different support people. Even escalated to higher levels of support and still nothing is done about it.
Some examples of customer support "solutions" to this:
1. Please contact Intel about it
2. Oh, here are steps on how to enable rebar on your device, just follow the steps and enable it in BIOS (of course doesn't work, because there is no option to turn it on in BIOS)
3. Just statement that this is not available on our machine
...
Frustrating it is, because it seems, we just need BIOS update from DELL to enable it, so we can enjoy our unnecessary expensive laptops to its full potential.

I ended up sending my laptop back to Dell because of this issue - went for a machine with an Nvidia card and been really happy with it

@Infinity Plus One what did you get instead?
Did you return for refund within "cooling off" or after some time?

@ejn63 Thanks for confirming.
Dell staff, if you are monitoring this thread - my XPS is the last Dell product I'd be paying money for. The GPU performance is poor, this seem to be a main reason, and I don't like feeling cheated.

Sounds like the system is running how and throttling. What is running when this happens?
