XPS 15 9510 connected to WD15 slow charging warning

My SO notified me that her XPS 15 (9510) was getting a slow charging notification while connected to her WD15 docking station. After much research I think I've figured that the WD15 docking station powered by a 130W adapter is not providing enough wattage once the dockign station takes it share before passing the rest.

The plan is upgrade the adapter to a 180W which will pass through 130W, enough to satisfy the XPS 9510. In the mean time she has the laptop directly connected to an additional 130W adapter which has quickly charged. She also has the dock connected to provide her peripherals and two monitors.

Question:

Will having the two power sources connected cause any issues? The direct connected 130W and the 90W from the docking station? I've instructed her to only run the direct connected adapter when/if she needs to charge the laptop but, there will also be those moments when both the power sources are connected.

TIA

There is no issue to connect both power sources to your XPS 9510 laptop.  The system was designed to accept only enough power it needs and it switches to only one optimal power source when there are more than one power input.

On many system models, you can verify the information by accessing BIOS settings and monitoring the menu screen that provides live power and voltage input while testing.
