XPS 15 9500 reboot after wake, doesn't charge afterwards
XPS 15 9500
I am running Ubuntu 24.04, latest BIOS, 1.32.0. My machine has the Intel AX201 WiFi chip.
I have found a way to reproduce it reliably:
Suspend (or close the lid)
Remove charger
Wait 10 minutes (this is the key, if I wake up immediately everything works)
Wake up
The machine wakes up, is responsive and works correctly for about 5 seconds and then crashes and restarts. It is not charging until i shut it down completely, remove and replace charger and then power on.
There is nothing in the Ubuntu logs that indicates a problem, only the ASF2 force off error in the BIOS log.
Crashes like this can happen when booting while connected to a USB Type C monitor and rarely when idle.
Tried so far:
- reinstall Ubuntu 24.04
- different nvidia drivers, including noveau, open, proprietary
- forcing performance mode on nvidia prime (only use the dedicated GPU)
Please help.
