XPS 15 9500 reboot after wake, doesn't charge afterwards

I am running Ubuntu 24.04, latest BIOS, 1.32.0. My machine has the Intel AX201 WiFi chip.

I have found a way to reproduce it reliably:

1. Suspend (or close the lid)

2. Remove charger

3. Wait 10 minutes (this is the key, if I wake up immediately everything works)

4. Wake up

The machine wakes up, is responsive and works correctly for about 5 seconds and then crashes and restarts. It is not charging until i shut it down completely, remove and replace charger and then power on.

There is nothing in the Ubuntu logs that indicates a problem, only the ASF2 force off error in the BIOS log.

Crashes like this can happen when booting while connected to a USB Type C monitor and rarely when idle.

Tried so far:

• reinstall Ubuntu 24.04
• different nvidia drivers, including noveau, open, proprietary
• forcing performance mode on nvidia prime (only use the dedicated GPU)

Please help.
