XPS 15 7590
I'm experiencing persistent fan noise issues with my Dell XPS 15 7590. The cooling fans are running at high speeds almost constantly, creating a disruptive loud whirring sound, even when the laptop is handling light tasks like web browsing or document editing.
Symptoms:
- Fans run at maximum or near-maximum speed regardless of system load
- Noise is loud enough to be heard across a room
- Fan behavior persists even after system restart
- Issue occurs even when CPU usage is low and no demanding applications are running
- Fan noise begins immediately upon startup
Steps I've already taken:
- Updated all drivers through Dell Support Assist
- Checked for and installed all Windows updates
- Cleaned the vents and fans of any visible dust
- Monitored temperatures, which appear normal for light usage
- Checked Task Manager to confirm no background processes are causing high CPU usage
System specifications: Dell XPS 15 7590

You haven't mentioned replacing the thermal pads that sit between the heatsinks and CPU/GPU, but they're probably very dried out with insulating air gaps that prevent the heat transfer -- that would be next.

Have you found a solution to your problem? I am experiencing the same thing.

Hey, i highly reccomend you to disassemble it and replace the thermal paste & thermal pads. Disassembly of this laptop is pretty easy, you just unscrew the screws that are visible & unclip the bottom panel.
(thanks, Dell, for not making a unrepairable piece of scrap like everybody else did in 2020)
