XPS 14 9440 most unrelable computer I have ever had with appalling support
I and 80 and been using and building and using computers since my 50’s. Apart from specifying dell at work this XPS 14 9440 is the first Dell I have owned my self. Its been the worst one I have ever had, I am back to the orange followed by 8 white led errors again. The web is filled with those having the same problem always unsolved by Dell. Some time ago Dell Optimizer replaced My Dell. It took a support technician a few days and to finally find that out as running Support Assistant kept saying Dell Optimizer needed installing though it was installed. I was told in a few days it will be updated and stop, months after words still does the same. I was advised run update checks from on line and no it doesn’t find it missing but today it disabled Support Assistant and when I next turned the laptop on the old error leds were4 back. Online hardware check said install Support Assistant to run! No hardware errors found and I see little point in going to support who appear to have no idea of what to do nand have given totally wrong information/instructions in the past. I will carry on and se if the led errer comes back again and if bad might turn to Dell but how do you get past the first level of from my and others experience, incompetent support?

I sympathise, and agree with you partially about the level of support, because....
either of the above means a replacement unit I would think.

Thanks I have had this a number of times, the last time support had me reinstall windows after telling me to make a wrong change in the bios. Its been working OK even with the wrong bios setting since, Dell are useless/ pathetic, I just had a request from Dell to rate my experience with the laptop including what I thought of My Dell which was replaced months ago by Dell Optimizer. Support Assistant has had to be uninstalled and reinstalled again. I just don’t understand how slow doing uninstalls and re installs. I will see how it goes as I just don’t have the energy to battle with the useless staff covering support unless really needed!
