XPS 13 Plus 9320, sluggish battery life, revisiting
I own an XPS Plus 9320 that I purchased in 2023. Until recently, I have only used it occasionally at home, always plugged in as a home office PC. I’ve now started using it on the go for work and have encountered what seems to be a common issue ... extremely poor battery life. Even in energy saver mode, I get no more than 2.5-3 hours of use, and under normal conditions, the battery drains in just about 2 hours. I contacted Dell support, and after a thorough two-hour session involving diagnostics, driver updates, BIOS updates and tweaks, and every tool they had at their disposal, there was unfortunately no improvement.
Despite the updates and BIOS changes intended to extend battery life, I’m still only getting around 2 hours of normal usage before the battery depletes completely. I’ve combed through every forum and resource I could find online, including this one, but nothing has resolved the issue.
If anyone has found a solution to this problem, I’d greatly appreciate the help. Is there a fix? Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Run a battery report:
Open a command prompt with admin privilege and type powercfg /batteryreport
What is the current charge capacity of the battery (note: capacity, not the charge state)?
What type of screen (FHD or QHD) does the system have? The battery runs will be far shorter with a QHD screen than an FHD one.

I have a XPS 13 Plus 9320 2022 laptop and after the first year I've been experiencing the same problem. From reading comments on other sites this seems to be a common defect with this model. Now I'm lucky if I get 90 minutes of unplugged usage.

The battery has lost more than 30% of its design capacity -- it's headed for a needed replacement.

@ejn63 Mine is at 42K off the 54k .. and getting under 2 hours of life ... when I was at 46k, I was getting about 2 hours with 15% capacity reduction ... this implies at full charge capacity it only does 2.5 hours .. which is the real problem here with this model and the battery it accepts.
Do you know of batteries that offer higher capacity that fit into the plus ? I have an older XPS laptop - approximately 7 years old where the battery tops 7-8 hours (recently changed with a 7.6V 52Wh 4Cell

@esfromny This is absolutely a case of false advertising. I bought my XPS-13 Plus in late 2022 AFTER researching features, including battery life. I definitely purchased based on the advertised life which was NOT 2 hours. That was one of my key search criteria, along with installed Linux OS. I think I might have saved that ad, but as of now I can't find it - but if I do, Ridiculously short battery life if only one of the disappointments for me.

Given that this is a 2019 model, if the battery is original to the system it's had a long run - replace it.
