XPS 13 Plus 9320 – BIOS 2.28/2.29 caused touchscreen failure, I2C HID Code 10 & 30-second boot delay

I also updated to newly released BIOS 2.29 today, but the touchscreen issue still persists exactly the same.

Symptoms remain:

  • I2C HID Device Code 10

  • HID descriptor request failed

  • ACPI\CUST0000

  • touchscreen dead

  • “this boot will take longer than usual” appears every startup with ~20–30 second delay

This confirms the issue was not fixed by BIOS 2.29 either.

If you haven't done so yet, start with an EC reset.  Unplug the system, remove the base cover and disconnect the battery from the mainboard.  Hold the power button for 30 sec.  Reassemble and power up again (it will take a couple of boot cycles to power up, and more time than usual to reset the EC).
