XPS 13 Plus 9320, Alert! TPM device is not detected

Hello everyone,

I've been struggling for months with my XPS 13 Plus 9320. It all started after a screen problem. I changed my PC's screen and everything was working again, but when I boot up, I get an error message: Alert! TPM device is not detected. I look in the BIOS and can't find anything to get past this stage.

Here's what I've done:

Updated to the latest known BIOS
Reset BIOS to default settings
Replaced the motherboard
Replaced the plastic keyboard assembly

So now I have two motherboards, and the error is the same on both, which leads me to believe that the TPM is not integrated into the motherboard.

The only components left are the HP SSD fans, so not much, and yet I'm still stuck.

I contacted Dell support, who advised me to change the motherboard, but I've already changed the motherboard. I tested both connection cards as well, and still have the same problem.

Another strange thing is that the SSD is not recognised in the BIOS. I tested the SSD on another computer and it works. I formatted the drive. I tested another SSD, which was also not detected.

This failure is incomprehensible and illogical. Dell is trying to charge me for a motherboard and labour, but since I've already done that, I don't think that's the problem.

In short, if anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

Hi

Most of what you have done should have solved the problem, so some of what is listed below is irrelevant........

Another method is to clear the TPM cache: in Windows, run tpm.msc, choose "Clear TPM," and confirm the reboot and clearing prompts. Also, reinstall the TPM driver from Device Manager by uninstalling it and letting Windows automatically reinstall it upon reboot. If these don't work, the TPM chip could be faulty, requiring motherboard repair or replacement as a last resort.

Key steps summary for Dell XPS 13 9320 TPM not detected fix:

  • Enable TPM in BIOS/UEFI Security settings.

  • Update BIOS to the latest Dell release.

  • Reset BIOS via power unplug and Ctrl+Esc boot recovery.

  • Clear TPM in Windows using tpm.msc.

  • Reinstall TPM driver via Device Manager.

  • Consider hardware repair if problem persists.

These solutions come from Dell community posts, technical blogs, and troubleshooting videos relevant to XPS models with TPM issues and are applicable to the XPS 13 9320.

@F1aw1ess No and I don't have found a solution, I think Dell had some tools but I contacted them and they only purpose me to change the motherboard :(

If you found a solution I'm interested..

@F1aw1ess I threw away the old screen, so I can't test it, but now I think we know where the problem is coming from.

Ok so I think the problem come from the screen, it should be a non official screen and the system don't reconize a non official serial number. Where I can found an official dell screen?

@F1aw1ess So I think the card present in the screen is checked by the motherboard. I don't see an other explain.

Could someone working at Dell shed some light on this?
