XPS 13 9310 – My BIOS firmware update procedure

This is how I updated the BIOS (to current 2026) on my XPS-13 9310.

For this first set (while it was still kinda new) I installed them all, consecutively.

3.9.0   09 Aug 2022
3.8.0   12 Jul 2022
3.7.0   13 Jun 2022
3.6.0   14 Apr 2022
3.5.1   08 Mar 2022
3.4.0   11 Jan 2022
3.3.0   07 Dec 2021
3.2.0   09 Nov 2021
3.1.0   26 Aug 2021
3.0.4   26 Jul 2021 (Milestone version – No down-grade/back-flash is allowed back past here)
3.0.3   23 Jun 2021
2.2.0   19 Apr 2021
2.1.1   01 Apr 2021
2.0.0   09 Feb 2021
1.2.5   11 Jan 2021
1.1.4   10 Dec 2020
1.1.1   19 Oct 2020
1.0.3   06 Oct 2020

To finish-up, I just installed these. There was so many, I mostly just picked some important-looking ones about a year apart.

3.35.0   15 Jan 2026  (This BIOS also contains the new 2023 Secure Boot Certificates)
3.34.0   10 Sep 2025  (This BIOS contains the new 2023 Secure Boot Certificates)
3.31.0   18 Jun 2025  (Milestone version – No down-grade/back-flash is allowed back past here)
3.27.1   16 Dec 2024
3.19.1   21 Nov 2023

For each one:
- Downloaded each .exe file from Dell’s support area to local machine.
- Go to File-Properties and un-block it. I also quickly captured it’s full text description (to a text file).
- Connect AC-Adapter.
- Ran the updater-file in Windows and let it write firmwares (for new BIOS and all included sub-components) to UEFI-Firmware area.
- Clicked the Restart button to reboot the machine into UEFI-Environment (where it then processes any pending firmware updates).
- Carefully watched all intermediate progress messages. You should also get a green success message at the very end
- Be sure machine initially reboots properly (normal and fast).
- Run msinfo32 and check BIOS version
- In Control Panel/Device Manager , be sure it is still “clean” (all devices detected and no errors).

I then run the updater file again in Windows (to verify all included sub-component firmwares were indeed applied).
- There might not be a "Current Version" of CORPORATE Intel-ME listed, but "New-Version" of both should be the same.
Then, just exit out (do NOT run full-procedure again).

Notice about Milestone BIOS versions (after successful applied, you can NOT down-grade or back-flash to previous BIOS version)
- Once the BIOS is upgraded to version 3.0.4 or later, you cannot downgrade the BIOS to earlier versions. BIOS downgrades are restricted when there are security updates and important fixes with earlier versions that impact the functionality of the system.
- And later in years ... Once the BIOS is upgraded to version 3.31.0 (June 2025) or later, you cannot downgrade the BIOS to earlier versions. BIOS downgrades are restricted when there are security updates and important fixes with earlier versions that impact the functionality of the system.

Other BIOS-flashing Notes:
- Except for the AC adapter, disconnect all the USB Type-C devices from the system before you start the BIOS upgrade process.
- BIOS updates take no more than 5 minutes to be installed on your system. You can install the updates in the background while using the system.
- Probably a good idea to disable "Fast Startup" in Windows/Power-Profile while updating BIOSes in this way (thru Windows to UEFI-Env)

My XPS-13 9310 is still booting and working fine.
Mine is still running Windows-11 Pro (64 bit) v24H2. Maybe if I keep it on and use it more (it’s just my laptop for traveling) I’m thinking it will then eventually offer me the v25H2 update in Windows-Update.
And if you are following the “2023 Secure Boot Certificates” issue … while it DID NOT before, it now PASSES all preliminary tests.
