XPS 13 9310 Hardware Screen problem - screen dims 99% off when fully opened
As the title states, the screen works no problem between the angles of about 20 degrees and 70 degrees open, but when going past that it dims to 99% as if the screen was under the 10 degree open mark which "shuts" the screen off.
This is the case regardless of whether I am on windows, Linux or in the BIOS, so this is a hardware problem.
I opened up the laptop and realized there is a metal piece of the motherboard which touches the hinges, it seems to me that when this has full contact the screen is lit but I am not sure, I think that perhaps the metal got worm down and now it doesn't make full contact when the screen is fully open - this is unconfirmed.
I want to know if anyone knows a quick fix such as software forcing the screen on (I tried from the power settings on windows and the BIOS, I couldn't spot anything that works), note that adjusting the brightness doesn't work as it is disabled during this 99% dim mode. Otherwise maybe one of you dealt with this and fixed it in a different way.
Thanks.
