XPS 13 9300 Won’t Scan/Update

My laptop will not longer complete the routine update scan using SupportAssist. The update scan has failed several times in a row. Tried going to Dell Support portal to scan for updates there - same result. Says it’s scanning for updates, 10-15 mins go by no progress noted on the progress bar. Nothing. VPN is off.

Last week the SupportAssist scan was slow and difficult, meaning several attempts before it finally located and downloaded an update. This week, no go.
