Windows 11 - Internal Speakers lose connection

Every so often - most usually, but not exclusively, after closing Windows Media Player, Windows 11 loses the connection to the internal speakers on my XPS laptop. The connection re-appears after restarting the system.

Any tips / fixes that might eliminate this or at least enable Windows to recognize the speakers again without a reboot?
