Win10 install on 2.5" SSD freezes (XPS 15 9560)

I am trying to install Win10 from a USB stick on a Dell XPS 15 9560 (manufactured in 2017). I previously installed it alright on the NVMe SSD, but now I would rather install it on the 2.5" SATA SSD, reserving the NVMe SSD for other purposes.

When I try to install Win10 on the 2.5" SATA SSD, the installation freezes at random times, starting from when it begins to copy files until after the reboot.

Note that after installing Win10 on the NVMe SSD, the 2.5" SATA SSD works correctly: there seems to be no issue with the SSD itself or its connection to the motherboard.

Is installation of Win10 on the 2.5" SATA SSD unsupported? Anything I can do to troubleshoot the issue?

That has to do with the CPU and BIOS. Install Windows on the NVMe SSD and use the SATA SSD for auxiliary storage

@HedgeFundManager I ended up doing as you said, Win (and Ubuntu) on the NVMe SSD and additional storage (for Ubuntu) on the SATA SSD. Seems to be going fine.
