Wi-Fi speed slower than expected...

XPS 15 9560

XPS 15 9560

I recently switched to Ezee Fiber's 1 Gig plan, supposed to be 1 up & 1 down, I find I'm getting at best 400 Mbps down & not much over 100 Mbps up.

I'm using a Netgear Nighthawk Wi-Fi 6 mesh router with 2 satellites & at the router itself I'm seeing 942 Mbps down & 679 Mbps up.

I've checked power seeings & both plugged in & on battery are set to maximum performance.

Laptop is within 3 ft of the router - what else could or should I be checking and/or adjusting?

This is a pretty old system -- if it's still using the 12+ year old wifi card, that could be a big part of the issue.

What model wireless card does the system have?

this is 12 years old?!?

I've got the Killer Wireless-n/a/ac 1535 Wireless Network Adapter

With 32 GB of RAM & a 2 TB SSD, I'd hate to think what a new one's gonna cost me - can I upgrade the card I currently have?

The system can be upgraded to a new M.2 Wifi 6 card - just be sure you stick with the AX200 card (not the cheaper AX201, which won't work with the older CPU you have).

Dunno if I can post actual links on here, but I see one for about $20 on Amazon, AX200 WiFi 6 Adapter | Dual-Band 802.11ax M.2 WiFi Card for PC

@ejn63 I dunno what's going on here, as I've made several responses & the only ones that are showing are mine?!?

I also got an email that said my comment was made to a new post, but then when I click the link I get a message that I don't have permission to view it??
