What is this in the laptop?
I opened up the laptop for the first time, hoping to upgrade the NVME and noticed this.
Is this normal at the fan connector? If not, what is it? It's still under warranty.
Thanks!

From the picture I saw in the service manual there is no connector, plug, etc. in that location. Possibly on the other side of the MB. But that looks like a stripped back wire as if a repair connection of some type were attempted. I also don't think it came in contact with a hot IC chip but whose to say. Possibly a repair tech is needed.

I think it looks like some type of grease, possibly dielectric. Possibly due to something being repaired. Unless there is some other component in that area that might have leaked something.
I was wondering where the wire went since I could not find a service manual.

We can't read part of the lettering but it shows JFAN1 so maybe a processor fan or cooling fan of some type?
Is the system a G15 5510, I will check the service manual.

That sure does not look normal to me, almost as if somewhere along the line some type of strange attempt at a wiring connection. What do you think @Saltgrass ?

Hi Saltgrass, thanks for your reply!
Sorry, I should be more clear... yes, it is the fan connector / wiring.
I was wondering whether that weird gray discoloration at the wiring and connector is normal or whether something needs to be fixed as it is still under warranty?
I have attached another picture.

Thanks for everyone's feedback! Here is another picture with an outline of the wiring since it may not show up well on the dark background. One end of the wiring seems to go to the fan. And the other end of the wiring goes to the JFAN1 connector.
I guess the general consensus is that it is not normal?
This has been the first time opening up the laptop. Good thing I opened it while it is still in warranty.
