WD22TB4 Will not Update Firmware - AC Adaptor Error

Hello,

I am trying to update my WD22TB4 firmware to the latest version (01.01.01.01, 01.01.11.01 - DellDockFirmwarePackage_WD19_WD22_HD22_WD25_SD25_01.01.11.exe) but getting an error saying "Please reconnect the AC adaptor to the dock" even though the dock AND the laptop are both separately connected to AC power (directly into the wall). The error prevents the Update button from showing and my only option is to Exit the update. The dock is otherwise working fine, so I know it is receiving power and I am not getting any other power errors. How can I resolve this issue?

I found this support article, but it seems like the resolution to the error for updating the firmware is to....update the firmware?? How can I do that if I get the error and the error is preventing me from updating?

I'd try out a hard reset on the dock. Also ensure you're using the AC adapter the dock shipped with.

  1. Remove the dock USB-C or Thunderbolt cable from the computer.
  2. Unplug AC power from the dock.
  3. Drain any remaining power to the dock by holding the power button for 30 seconds.
  4. Plug AC power into the dock.
  5. The dock LED on the power button should blink three (3) times.
  6. Plug the dock USB-C or Thunderbolt cable back to the computer.

Thank you. I tried these steps (which I had tried already) and they did not resolve the issue. I contacted Dell Support via the means you suggested and they told me the adaptor the product shipped with (240W) was not correct. I purchased the "correct" adaptor (180W) and still am unable to update the dock--with the same error about connecting to the AC adaptor.

This issue remains unresolved. I guess I will continue on without updating the firmware.
