Touchpad jitter and malfunction
Hello,
For the past month or so, my touchpad has been malfunctioning—almost like it’s having seizures or something—and I’m not sure what the problem is(external mice are working fine ). I’ve updated all my laptop drivers, especially the ones for the touchpad, and done a lot of searching online for a fix.
When I use the touchpad, it works fine for a few minutes and then starts acting oversensitive, causing the mouse pointer to twitch when my finger is on the pad. When these episodes start, the top corners of the touchpad usually stop responding.
Although this issue began about a month or two ago, it has progressively gotten worse since then and the frequency is starting to rise. I’d really appreciate any opinions or suggestions on what might be causing this problem and how I can fix it.

It sounds like your Dell XPS 15 9510’s touchpad issue goes beyond a simple driver glitch. The pointer jitter, oversensitivity, and dead corners usually point to a firmware or hardware-layer problem within the touchpad sensor assembly. Start by doing a clean reinstall of the input drivers: uninstall all HID-compliant touchpad and Precision Touchpad entries in Device Manager, reboot, and then manually install the latest touchpad, BIOS, Intel Serial I/O, and chipset drivers directly from Dell’s support site. Next, test the touchpad inside the BIOS (press F2 at boot). If the jitter persists there, the fault isn’t software. Also check for grounding differences by using the laptop both plugged in and on battery; the aluminum chassis can amplify static or grounding interference.
If the erratic behavior continues, it’s most likely a physical fault—either a loose ribbon cable or a deteriorating touchpad sensor, both common in some XPS 9510 units. Run Dell’s built-in diagnostics (F12 → Diagnostics) to confirm. If you notice jitter during that test or in BIOS, contact Dell support and mention “touchpad jitter/dead zones—known hardware issue.” They can reseat or replace the touchpad assembly under warranty. As a temporary fix, you can lower touchpad sensitivity or disable it when using an external mouse until service is arranged.

Well I think you are facing the hardware problem so i will suggest you to contact dell support regarding this issue.
