Suggestion: Support for PD Charging Standards and GaN Charger Development

Dear DELL Team,

I’m a long-time user of the XPS 15 9570 laptop and truly appreciate the excellent quality of your products.

As someone who frequently travels for business, I rely heavily on USB-C GaN fast chargers. However, I’ve noticed that my laptop only supports 130W charging via Dell’s proprietary protocol, and not via the more common USB Power Delivery (PD) standard, which limits compatibility with third-party PD chargers to 100W (20V/5A).

Therefore, I would like to kindly suggest the following:

  1. Please consider adding firmware or BIOS support for standard PD inputs at 20V/5A (100W) and 28V/5A (140W), especially under the USB PD 3.1 standard.

  2. Please consider manufacturing and selling Dell-branded GaN USB-C PD chargers (ideally supporting 130W PD or PD 3.1), which are more compact and travel-friendly.

The main purpose of this request is to reduce the weight and bulk of chargers when traveling, allowing for easier mobility without sacrificing performance. Current Dell chargers are relatively heavy, and support for standard PD or a GaN alternative would greatly benefit users like me.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Community Manager

The six year old 2018 released XPS 15 9570 is EOL (end of life) and thus would not receive an enhancement at this late date.
