Start-Up Problems (XPS 17)

I’ve run into an odd little problem with my XPS 17.

Three days ago, I was booting the laptop up and it displayed a picture of a storm cloud (or at least something close to it). The mouse cursor moved, but nothing else. I pushed the power key and it brought up a “slide to power down” note, which I did. The laptop booted up again normally.

Today, the laptop jammed and then crashed. It flashed up an error message and then rebooted. When it did so, it booted up to the storm cloud picture again. This time, the mouse didn’t move, but when I pressed the power key it brought up “slide to power down” note again. Right now, the laptop appears to be functioning, but I am a little worried.

Does anyone have any insight on why this might be happening, and what I can do about it?
