Screen Blinking Issue on Dell XPS 15
Hello Dell Community,
I hope this message finds you well. I’m experiencing a frustrating issue with my Dell XPS 15 (model: 9500). Recently, the screen has been blinking intermittently, which is impacting my ability to use the laptop effectively.
Here are some details about the issue:
- Model: Dell XPS 15 (9500)
- Operating System: Windows 10
- Symptoms: The screen flickers randomly, both while idle and during use. It doesn’t seem to be related to specific applications or tasks.
- Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
- Updated graphics drivers to the latest version.
- Checked for Windows updates and installed all pending updates.
- Restarted the laptop multiple times.
- Tried adjusting the display settings, including refresh rate and resolution.
If anyone has encountered a similar problem or has suggestions for further troubleshooting steps, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you for your help!

Here are some things you can try if your screen is blinking:
Check your cables
Make sure all cables are plugged in properly and aren't damaged. You can try unplugging and replugging the cables, or try using a different cable.
Check your refresh rate
Make sure your refresh rate is supported by your device.
Update your display driver
If you're using Windows, you can try updating your display driver. To do this, you can:
Start your computer in safe mode
Uninstall your current display adapter
Check for driver updates
Check for incompatible apps
If Task Manager doesn't flicker while the rest of your screen is, an incompatible app might be causing the problem. You can try updating or uninstalling the app.
Check for hardware issues
Malfunctioning hardware components, like the graphics card or monitor, can cause screen flickering.
