My XPS 15 shuts down when I put it on sleep or close the lid when not plugged in, and the mic doesn't work at times?
Hi I've been dealing with these 2 issues for a while.
- If I unplug the laptop, then put it on sleep or close the lid I won't be able to wake it back up from sleep, and the only way to turn it back on is by resetting it. I always get the "your laptop didn't shut down properly" blue screen when this happens.
- My mic doesn't work on zoom and google meets sometimes, the occurrence is completely random
Can anyone help with these issues?

How old is the battery, and how long does the system run on battery?
When the mic doesn't work, is more than one conferencing application (google meet, zoom, webex, teams) loaded?

@ejn63 I've had this laptop for 4 years, but the sleep issue started happening earlier this year.
No, I only have zoom open

The sleep issue is probably due to a dying battery that isn't holding sufficient charge. You can determine the current charge capacity of the battery by running a battery report: open a command prompt with admin privilege and type
powercfg /batteryreport.
what are the current and design capacities of the battery (note: NOT the current charge state!)?
Do you have more than one conferencing application installed on the system, and if you do -- is it or are they loading at startup (regardless of whether it's active at the time)?
It's not uncommon for one or more application loaded to commandeer the audio driver -- blocking another from functioning correctly.
